Every channel trains customers to expect something different, and the same message copied across all five will land wrong on at least three of them. Here is a quick reference.
Fast, informal, short messages. Customers expect a reply within minutes and will follow up if they do not get one.
Live chat
Similar speed expectation to WhatsApp, but customers are usually mid task on a website, so brevity and a clear next step matter even more.
The one channel where customers accept some delay, and where a complete, well structured answer beats a fast, incomplete one.
Social media
Public by default. Every reply is also being read by people who are not part of the conversation, so tone and accuracy both carry extra weight.
Phone
Still the right channel for anything emotionally charged or genuinely complex. Some conversations are better solved by a voice than by any amount of typing.
Knowing which channel a conversation is happening on, and adjusting for it, is a bigger skill than most training gives it credit for.
